As sometimes happens with 911 calls, no one spoke directly to a Darien police dispatcher who received a call at 12:49 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4. More unusual was what happened this time: According to police, the dispatcher heard people arguing, with one of them yelling for help. Darien police described what happened with this additional account (including accusations not proven in court):

Since no one was telling the dispatcher where the emergency was taking place, the dispatcher traced the location, and officers went to the scene — a home on Old Farm Road in the Tokeneke section of town. There they met with a resident who said he had been in an argument with the victim, who had left.

Yelling, tossed food and thrown clothing were part of a couple’s kerfuffle that resulted in charges against them when police were called last Monday, May 16, police said. Darien police described the commotion with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The kerfuffle was kickstarted between the 45-year-old woman and her 55-year-old husband when the husband complained that a mistake had been made in an order for takeout food. The wife, who said her husband wouldn’t stop yelling, threw a plate of food onto his lap, then went upstairs. As she was headed up, her husband came up from behind her and poured green juice over her head. She used his clean clothes to clean it up.

Police: Fight with Mother About Daughter Going to Prom Gets Father Arrested

According to police, the father of a Darien teenage girl going to a prom last week said he’d spent the day helping her shop to get ready, but when the girl’s mother arrived home and saw her daughter leaving with prom clothes in hand, an argument started. That eventually led to the man’s arrest. Darien police gave this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The father, a 43-year-old man who lives in Norwalk, is subject to an order of protection barring him from actions including threatening or assault against the mother. (It did not mandate that he have no contact with the mother.)

The order of protection resulted from a previous domestic dispute. The mother, a Darien resident with custody of the daughter, told police that she allows the father to spend time with his daughter.

Cops: Man Violated Protective Order, Parents Obstructed Police

When the parents of a Devonshire Drive man went to the police station on July 3 to discuss problems related to their 34-year-old son, police found the man was violating a protective order and decided to arrest him, according to police. Police gave this account (containing accusations not proven in court) of the matter:

The parents realized that police were headed toward the house on Devonshire Drive, so they called their son and another person (on whose behalf the protective order had been issued) to warn them police were coming. When police realized what had happened, they charged each of the parents (63 and 61 years old) with interfering with a police investigation. They were issued summonses to appear in court. The parents and the 34-year-old, told police that they thought the protective order was no longer in effect, but police found no records indicating that it had been removed (it was late afternoon or early evening when police left for the house, well past working hours, so it wasn’t possible to check with court personnel to see if the records might have been wrong).
