Yelling, tossed food and thrown clothing were part of a couple’s kerfuffle that resulted in charges against them when police were called last Monday, May 16, police said.

Darien police described the commotion with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The kerfuffle was kickstarted between the 45-year-old woman and her 55-year-old husband when the husband complained that a mistake had been made in an order for takeout food.

The wife, who said her husband wouldn’t stop yelling, threw a plate of food onto his lap, then went upstairs. As she was headed up, her husband came up from behind her and poured green juice over her head. She used his clean clothes to clean it up.

The man then pulled her clothing from the closet and threw it on the floor. The woman then dialed 911 at about 9:30 p.m. and hung up, which brought police to the house, located on Hollow Tree Ridge Road south of Interstate 95.

The husband recalled the incident similarly. Children were present when the conflict occurred. Police issued misdemeanor summonses charging both the man and the woman with disorderly conduct. They were scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford the next day. The state Department of Children and Families was notified.
