To the editor:

At Home In Darien would like to thank the many volunteers who participated in this fall’s senior leaf raking program. Students in the St. Thomas More Youth Group of Darien, Church of Latter Day Saints Youth Darien Ward, Darien YMCA Adventure Guides and Princesses, the St. Luke’s of Darien’s Confirmands [those going through confirmation], Darien United Methodist Church and the Community Council from Darien High School all spent 400 hours raking, bagging and hauling numerous piles of leaves from the homes of 23 Darien seniors. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to these groups and individuals for their kindness and service to the community.

While leaf raking and snow shoveling can be good exercise, they are often tiring and sometimes hazardous chores for seniors. At Home In Darien is pleased to offer our annual fall leaf raking and winter snow shoveling program. — an announcement from At Home In Darien

This program matches At Home In Darien volunteers with senior residents who are in need of assistance. Leaf raking, show shoveling, and our other volunteer services can help Darien seniors continue to live in their homes and our community with one less thing to worry about. If you are a senior (or know of a senior) who is interested in taking advantage of our leaf raking and snow shoveling services, please contact the At Home In Darien office and complete an application before Oct.
