At Home in Darien’s Annual Meeting Elects New Board of Directors

At Home In Darien held its annual meeting at the Darien Library on Dec. 8, 2015. The open to the public meeting was attended by more than 50 people, including members, public and private sector community leaders, and the media. Newly elected board members are John Bartlett, Janet Sargent, Tamsin Sickinger, and Robin Woods. All four will serve three year terms.

At Home In Darien also elected Annie McGuire as its President, Annie Burleigh, William Ball and Peter Eder as Vice Presidents, Peter Carnes as Treasurer, Diane Barston as Secretary and Kaye Barker for Governance.

At Home In Darien is thankful for the volunteers who participated in this fall’s senior leaf raking program. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the St Thomas Moore Youth Group of Darien, Boy Scout Troop 35, Darien YMCA Adventure Guides and Princesses, Church of Latter Day Saints Youth Darien Ward, The Droogan Family, Melanie and Matthew Lynch, Lucy Ackemann and family, and Rebekah and Matthew King, for spending over 300 combined hours raking, bagging and hauling numerous piles of leaves from the homes of 31 Darien seniors. _________

At Home In Darien received overwhelmingly positive feedback from very happy and appreciative seniors who enjoyed chatting with their volunteers and even posing for some pictures, and from volunteers who were happy to help out people in the community. At Home In Darien is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization whose mission is to help older adults in Darien to live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own homes for as long as possible. Darien Foundation Donates a New Car to At Home in Darien

At Home In Darien is driving a brand new Chrysler 300, 4-door all-wheel drive sedan generously donated by the Darien Foundation for Technology & Community. The new car replaces an aging sedan and allows Darien residents to travel in style, in a safe, comfortable, fuel efficient vehicle. ____________

“We are thankful to the Darien Foundation for Technology & Community, and their charitable donors, who provided funding for this beautiful new vehicle that will enhance the services we offer Darien residents,” said Gina Blum, Executive Director of At Home In Darien. “The new sedan is a great benefit to the entire community.”

At Home In Darien provides rides to seniors and the disabled.
