The Staples store on Richards Avenue, near Route 1 not far from Darien, is about to close — not for the snow, but forever — with its last day open on Saturday, Feb. 11, the store has announced.
The store’s shelves are already emptying out, and signs are up announcing the upcoming closure.

There aren’t a huge number of items on sale, but after a reporter’s purchase there (with a Staples business card) on Thursday, the register receipt offered 50%-off coupons: $10 on a $20 purchase and $30 off of a $60 purchase.
The office supply chain’s store in the Ridgeway Shopping Center, 2299 Summer St., Stamford, remains open and is now the closest Staples to Darien.
Staples also has other stores in Norwalk that are remaining open — at 654 Main Ave. and 420-440 Westport Ave.
Closer to home, Darien News Store at 19 Tokeneke Road in downtown Darien has office supplies.
