Several Events Soon for College-Bound Seniors & Their Parents

Darien High School seniors applying for college have several events coming up to help them pick a school and apply to it. Some events are for parents, and all the events are in Darien or Fairfield County.

Here’s a rundown, with the first event on Wednesday night:

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 7

How to Take the Stress out of the College Essay: Free Seminar — This free event, sponsored by Greenwich Education Group, takes place in Greenwich from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

TUESDAY, Oct. 13

 Panel of DHS Parents on Surviving the College Admissions Proccess — A Darien High School Parents Association meeting program: “Woulda Coulda Shoulda” 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 in Darien High School Auditorium. A panel of DHS parents who have survived the college admissions process and launched children into the world will provide their insights.  Coffee at 8:45 a.m., program will begin after general meeting announcements.

Panel: College Admissions Officers Answer Questions & Offer Tips — Admissions representatives from Bucknell University, Santa Clara University, Trinity College, University of Virginia, and Wake Forest University will participate in a college panel.  Get the inside scoop! Representatives will answer questions about the admissions process and give helpful tips on navigating application procedures. Topics will include SATs vs ACTs, the college essay, early decision vs early action and much more. Parents and students from all grades are welcome to attend!

College Fair at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield — Sacred Heart University will host the New England Association of College Admissions Counselors (NEACAC) Regional College Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center on the University’s Fairfield campus. (Maps and directions here.)

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 14

Wilton-Ridgefield High Schools College Fair — “Wilton High School and Ridgefield High School College Fair Partnership in the Wilton High School Field House, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015. Doors open at 7 p.m. […] We expect a large turnout and suggest car-pooling. Free parking and shuttle buses from Ridgefield and WHS parking lots will be provided. Parking in the North Lot (senior lot) is restricted to College and University Reps ONLY. You will be directed to the South Lot and Cider Mill School for parking. For your convenience, traffic flow and Route 7 construction/congestion, please enter the parking areas using School Road (Route 7 tennis courts). Stopping and parking in front of the WHS Field House and WHS main entrance will not be permitted; shuttle buses only.”

THURSDAY, Oct. 15

Greenwich High School College Night — 7 to 9 p.m.

MONDAY, Oct. 19

COLLEGE & VOCATIONAL FAIR AT DANBURY FAIR MALL — From 5 to 8:30 p.m. — “A list of participants who will be at the Danbury College Fair is listed on the Danbury High School web site under “Breaking News”. Please continue to check the site daily as it is updated often. Danbury High School guidance counselors will be on hand that evening to assist students and parents. A handout listing participants will be available at information booths. Don’t forget to pick up your copy. We look forward to seeing you at the fair which will be held in the lower level of the former Filene’s department store location. Good luck with your search! THURSDAY, Oct. 22

College Fair at Westhill High School in Stamford — from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
