Darien Woman, 85, Dies in Norwalk Car Accident

Selma Spector, 85, of Darien died in a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Route 7 in Norwalk when the SUV she was in rolled down a 50- or 75-foot embankment, according to various news reports.

Spector was a passenger in a 2014 Honda Pilot driven in the southbound-traffic lanes by a 65-year-old Stamford man when a Honda Civic struck the vehicle, according to a report in The Hour of Norwalk.

Just before 3:15 p.m., the SUV rolled over on the highway, then struck and went over a guardrail on the right before going down the embankment, the Hour and other news organizations reported. Several other vehicles were also involved in the accident.

Spector was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital. The driver of the Honda Civic was also rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a WFSB-TV report.

The accident closed all southbound lanes of the highway for a time. State police are continuing their investigation and had not charged anyone at the time the reports were published.
