Richard D. Castle, a resident of Darien since 1962, died on March 3 of natural causes.

Richard Castle passed away on March 3. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday.

Born Jan. 15, 1920, in Belding, Mich., he was the son of Glenn and Marjorie Childs Castle. His father died in July of 1920, and his mother later married Frank Case in 1932. Mr. Case died in 1937, and Richard’s mother died in 1984.

Mr. Castle attended Lansing Business University in Lansing, Michigan and worked for the Murray Corporation of America (later Wallace-Murray Corporation) for 42 years.

He started in 1940 as a timekeeper in an automotive spring plant in Belding, and rose through several positions until he retired as senior vice president of finance of Wallace-Murray Corporation in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Belding, and a longtime member of the Country Club of Darien.

Richard was predeceased in 2012 by his wife of 69 years, Burma Ruth Cory Castle. He is survived by his three children: Linda Eppinger (Garrick) of Neenah, Wisc., Susan Rolewick (David) of Wheaton, Ill., and Jeffrey (Suzanne), of Fairfield, as well as 9 grandchildren, Shandra, Cori, Robyn, Amy, Shannon, Kathryn, Michael, David, and Julie. He also has 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Raymond Case (JoEllen), of Rockford, Mich., as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will forever be grateful to his two caring aides, Jossett Tomlinson and Gina Michelle, for making his final years so pleasant.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Funeral Services will be at the Chapel of the Noroton Presbyterian Church, where he and Burma were long time members, on Tuesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
