Mallory Soan Darien Arts Center summer classes 3-19-16

The Darien Arts Center is offering a variety of new summer classes and camps for all ages in theatre, dance, martial arts, visual art and music. Pictured is Mallory Soan enjoying a recent visual arts class at the DAC, which is located at 2 Renshaw Road in Darien, behind the Town Hall.

Summer Camps:

NEW: Performance Kids, for ages 3-5, Mon-Fri, 10:30am-1pm, sign up for 1 to 4 weeks; 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 8/15, children create costumes, scenery, learn songs, dances and perform a mini-show, $200-$700.

NEW: Ninja Kids, for ages 4-8, Tues & Thurs, 10:30am-1pm, sign up for 1 to 5 weeks; 7/12, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, children learn basic martial arts and tumbling, enjoy martial arts games and creative time, $85-$300.

NEW: Camp DAC Comedy Show!, for grades 5-8, Mon, Wed & Fri, 2-4:30pm, 7/6-7/22, a theatre class with a variety show format, exploring the think-on-your feet and fun of comedy troupe shows, $340.

Let’s Put on a Show! Art, Dance and Theatre Camp, grades 1-4, Mon, Wed, Fri, 10am-2pm, July 11-29, children explore the many facets of producing a show; creating costumes & scenery, learning dances & songs and performing in a final; show, $500.

Dance:

Dance Intensive, for grades 2-5, three 4-day sessions, weeks of 6/27, 7/5 & 8/15, including jazz, modern, tap, ballet, theatre arts, improv & yoga, $350-$900

Ballet Intensive/Pointe, by permission, Mon-Fri, 2-4:30. July 25-Aug 12, for intermediate and advanced students, includes pointe work. $375.

Choreography – Intermediate and advanced, Wed 6-7:15pm, June 15-Aug 17, each class will focus on a different style of dance. $160 full session or $20 per class.

Martial Arts – ages 4-12, Tues 5-6pm, June 14-Aug 17, the art of karate, focusing on self-discipline, self-control, self-defense and fun, $160.

Music:

NEW: Student Directed Musical Revue, for High School Students, Mon-Thurs, 8-10pm, 6/27-7/28, develop management, performance and leadership skills; direct, produce and perform a musical revue, $400.

Private Instruction in Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drum Set, or Composition – 30 min for $50, 45 min for $75.50 or 1 hour lessons for $99, June 16-Aug 22

Music Composition I – Grades 2-3, Mon-Fri, 5-6pm, July 7-15, writing, recording and performing one’s own music, $193.

Music Composition II – Grades 4-7, Mon-Fri, 5-6pm, July 18-26, writing, recording and performing one’s own music, $193.

Visual Arts:

NEW: Staycation Art Workshop, for ages 7-12, Mon -Thurs, sign up for 1 to 4 weeks; 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, create projects through drawing, painting sculpture and printing, perfect for after the pool or camp, workshop themes: Big Top, Invent & Innovate, Blast Off! $160 per week.

For Adults, $20 drop-in fee, 10-class card for $160
