Town Seal Patrol Car

The town seal is part of Darien Police Department's shield-like logo (coat of arms?). Here's a widely seen version from the side of a typical patrol car. Note the central gable (the pointy part in the middle) is not quite missing from the building, but it's got the same color as the roof.

A woman at The Residence at Sellecks Woods home for the elderly received a call recently from a man claiming there was some sort of glitch with her Social Security number that indicated she was deceased.

The man, who identified himself as “Christopher Greenburg,” said he needed to send her new banking cards with updated information. He also knew some of her personal information, so she believed the call was legitimate and gave him some information about her banking accounts.

The next day, the victim contacted her bank. She found that there was a total of  $17,000 in fraudulent charges made to her account. The charges were made in Miami and New York City.

Police were informed of the incident at 5:14 p.m., Friday, July 26.

Correction: A police spokesman said the time when police were informed of the incident was incorrect in the original announcement. Police were contacted at 5:14 p.m., not in the morning on Friday.
