Patricia Waters (Patty) Levering of Sarasota Florida and Darien passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2022 at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 95.
Patty was born May 9, 1926 in Baltimore to Mr. & Mrs. Theodore C. Waters of Towsen, Maryland. She was a graduate of the Bryn Mawr School and of Pine Manor College, Class of 1946.
Patty and Brunie met when she was 13 and he was 15. They married in 1948 when Brune returned from Europe, following World War II. They soon moved to Darien, where they spent many happy years and raised their family.
In 1973 they moved to Sarasota, Florida, where they spent the rest of their lives. They worked together for many years as residential real estate brokers for Whispering Sands on Siesta Key.
As a young woman Patty was a Candy Striper and a Red Cross Nurse’s aide at Johns Hopkins during World War II. She was a member of the Junior League in both Darien and Sarasota, a member of the Elk Ridge Hunt Club, the Tokeneke Beach Club, and the Sarasota Yacht Club. Patty was also a longtime parishioner and volunteer at Saint Boniface Episcopal Church on Siesta Key.
Patty enjoyed tennis, golf, sailing, fishing, and bridge, but she will be remembered mostly for her gracious manner and her devotion to her family and her friends. Nana, as she was known in later years, touched the lives of everyone she met with her enduring love, warmth, generosity and her boundless desire to be with family.
She was the beloved wife of H. Brune Levering (Brunie). She was predeceased by her brother Teddy Waters Jr. of Baltimore, her daughter, Nancy L. Rozzelle, and her husband. She leaves two sons, H. Brune Levering Jr and wife Betsey of Concord, Massachusetts, and W. Joshua Levering and wife Ronni of Upper Montclair New Jersey; and grandchildren: Beau Levering, Ned Levering and wife Alex Purdey Levering, Hunter Levering, Billy Levering and wife Josefine Levering, and Elizabeth Levering. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews on both the Levering and Waters sides of the family, in addition to her longtime and devoted caregiver and friend, Lisa MacMinn of Sarasota.
A service will be held at a later date at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Owens Mills, Maryland.
