Here’s how Darien restaurants and other food-serving places fared in the latest inspection reports, released Thursday by the Darien Health Department.

Darien seniors who want to keep their ability to drop things off at the town transfer station (also known as Darien Recycling Center or the dump) now can get an entrance pass not associated with a particular car — useful if the senior is no longer driving and has a friend or family member helping with that.
In the six most recent health inspection reports, released Friday by Darien Health Department, five local restaurants were inspected from Wednesday to Friday, July 25 to 27.
Stepping Stones Museum for Children has once again partnered with other attractions within the City of Norwalk as part of the Sound of Summer discount program, a citywide tourism initiative to offer savings for visitors this summer.

Two buildings in different parts of town that have long housed Darien stores recently changed hands, with one of them next to the entrance to the Stop & Shop plaza bought by the company redeveloping that massive lot.
The other building, with its prominent “Stitch in Time […] SEWING MACHINES” sign, is on the Post Road on the other side of town, was bought in a completely separate transaction.
Fitch Academy is expected to open for the new school year not even a block away from Darien Library, although the alternative high school program may be at the library for a little while after school starts, a school district officials say.
The duo “A Night Out,” featuring Art Kadish and Vito Pepe, will performing this Saturday evening, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Hibachi Sushi Ya restaurant, 111 Old Kings Hwy. North.

A homeless man, frequently in town, whose address is listed as a Darien post office box, was arrested after he was found sleeping in the downtown Post Office, police said.

Two empty-handed males entered the Walgreens store at 138 Heights Road on Monday, July 16, but at least some of those hands were seen clutching stolen beach bags as the two ran out, police said.
Mary Lukovsky, a former Darien resident, recently passed away. She was 92.
A 62-year-old resident of Allen O’Neil Drive received a misdemeanor ticket after neighbors complained to police about noise coming from her apartment and she admitted to hitting a member of her household repeatedly with a spoon, police said.
The project to replace Old Town Hall Homes is expected to get $6 million in state funding at Wednesday’s meeting of the State Bond Commission, state Sen. Bob Duff said in a news release. Update: The money was approved.
The project to replace all the concrete platforms at Noroton Heights Railroad Station is officially not due to be over until June 2019, according to the state Department of Transportation, but Darien Public Works Director Edward Gentile doesn’t believe it.
He thinks commuters will be more likely to be using the new platform by this coming Christmas.
Dennis DeYoung, a founding member of Styx, will perform in a concert starting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday in downtown Stamford, in the latest Wednesday Nite Live concert.
The concert has been moved indoors to the Palace Theatre at 61 Atlantic St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and no outside food or drinks will be permitted. Also on the stage Wednesday will be Tom “The Suit” Forst.
A 54-year-old woman hurt a family member when a vase she threw smashed on a floor in their home on Nearwater Lane, Darien police said.
