Two buildings in different parts of town that have long housed Darien stores recently changed hands, with one of them next to the entrance to the Stop & Shop plaza bought by the company redeveloping that massive lot.
The other building, with its prominent “Stitch in Time […] SEWING MACHINES” sign, is on the Post Road on the other side of town, was bought in a completely separate transaction.

According to property transfer records in the Darien Town Clerk’s Office, Federal Realty of Rockville, MD has bought the two-story building at 154 to 156 Heights Road where Innovative Invitations and Vavala’s Delicatessen are located.
Federal Realty paid $1,850,000 to Thomas Zawacki of Darien for the building on July 17. The transaction was filed in the Town Clerk’s Office on July 23.
364 to 366 Post Road
Not far from the Exit 13 highway entrance, and on the same side of the road, the brick building at 364 to 366 Post Road with the distinctive Sewing Machine retailer sign has been empty for months.
On July 19, the building was sold by the estate of Louis Miceli and by Dominick Miceli for a total of $1,620,000 to 364 Post Road LLC, with an address care of JJP Partners LLC of 48 Rings End Road.
