Three Darien High School seniors and a Darien student at the King School have been selected as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program.
The students — Jack Barber, Lily Cowles, Anna Debano of Darien High School and Gouri Krishnan of the King School — have been recognized based on broad academic achievement and having scored exceptionally well on the SAT or ACT. Individual students can’t apply to the program or be nominated.
The four students are among 138 candidates from Connecticut for this year’s program. Several thousand have been named for the 2023 program.

DHS seniors Jack Barber, Lily Cowles and Anna Debano have been named candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by an executive order of President Lyndon Johnson to recognize and honor some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
Each year up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.
