The Darien Youth Commission invites you to the Tilley Pond Model Boat Regatta on Saturday, May 5.
There will be ample opportunity for EVERYONE in the family to enjoy the event, with face painting and tattooing from the Depot, musical entertainment sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, and Georgie the Clown will be on hand passing out balloons thanks to the generous support of the Darien Parks & Recreation Department!
Refreshments will be available from the famed Uncle’s Deli Hot Dog Cart.
We are again including the support and involvement of the Darien Sail & Power Squadron.
Schedule
Registration for this 26th annual event is scheduled to start at noon, non-racing judging will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and the races will begin at 1 p.m.
Again this year, there will be two races: Heat #1, for all home-made models at 1 p.m.; Heat #2, for all of the Youth Commission Pinewood Boat kit entries will take place immediately following Heat #1.
If You’re Going …
There is a $4 boat entry fee and all are welcome to participate! Kids are encouraged to bring their own homemade vessels.
Pinewood sailboats will be available for sale and assembly for those unable to bring homemade boats.
Kits are priced as follows: 1 kit — $15; 2 kits — $25; 3 kits — $35) and available for sale at the Youth Commission Office during normal business hours, or at the Regatta starting at 11 a.m.
