Lorrie was born on June 28, 1924 in Bridgeport. She died on Jan. 27 at the age of 91 while at Stamford Hospital. Lorrie was the daughter of Paul and Julia Kocsis Mrasco.

She was raised in Bridgeport and after graduating from high school she supported the war effort through her work at Bridgeport Brass. It was there that she met the love of her life, Fred Poccia, a returning war veteran. They were married in 1947.

Lorrie and Fred moved to Darien after their wedding where they remained dedicated to each other throughout their 67 years of marriage. Fred predeceased Lorrie nearly one year ago.

Lorrie spent her life in Darien dedicating her time to raising her two sons, Dan and Rick and volunteering for many causes. Lorrie created a warm and welcoming home during those years for her sons and their friends. Later on, she and her husband spent the winter months in Florida, a place and time that they cherished together.

an obituary from Edward Lawrence Funeral Home

____________

Lorrie became an avid Yankee fan able to cite each player’s statistics and celebrated the team’s many victories. But more than that, she was a most loving and supporting mother, grandmother and, most recently, great-grandmother. She inspired those close to her, especially her two granddaughters, with her loving nature, internal strength, sense of humor and sharp wit.

Loretta is survived by her two sons Daniel of Darien and Rick and his wife Diana of Overland Park, Kan., her two granddaughters, Allison Poccia of New York City and Dr. Julia Poccia Ordzowialy, her husband Dean and their two children Addison and Zachary of Chicago.

Lorrie met her great-granddaughter at a family gathering in 2014. Her great grandson, Zachary, was born on Jan. 25, just two days before Lorrie’s passing. She loved seeing pictures of the newborn. Lorrie was predeceased by her sister, Marion Fiske.

Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 1 at St. John Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a burial service at Spring Grove Cemetery.
