When workers from a construction company were left to work on renovating a Wildcat Road house, one of the homeowners packed jewelry she valued at $27,000 into a plastic box and on June 16 hid it among other items in a closet.

Then she and other family members left the house for days, and when they returned on Monday, June 20, after work on a kitchen floor was finished, the box was gone.

At first, she told police, she thought she might have misplaced the box, but after three weeks of looking, she couldn’t find it anywhere. She reported the matter to police on Monday, July 11.

There was no evidence of forced entry into the home. Detectives are speaking with numerous contractors and a moving company who had access to the residence.

In the box were rings, bracelets, ear rings and other pieces of jewelry.
