Jacob Ryan Velasco-Navarro of Darien passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by the love of his friends and family in Norwalk on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the age of 16.

Jacob Velasco-Navarro’s wake will be on Sunday; his funeral, Monday.

A big New England Patriots fan, Jacob loved sports and played lacrosse, football, and rugby while attending Darien High School. He loved traveling and seeing the world to experience new cultures and food, and especially loved sushi.

He also enjoyed spending quality time and sharing a good laugh with loved ones. His family and friends think of him fondly as cool and laid back with the biggest heart, and remember him as the strongest of them all.

Jacob is survived by his father Ryan Velasco and wife Amy Velasco of Darien, his mother Alexis Vega and husband Juan Vega of Norwalk, siblings John Vega, Isabella Vega and Myles Velasco, as well as other loving family members and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday May 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon the following day, May 16 at Hope Church, 240 Wolfpit Road, Wilton.

Jacob will then be laid to rest with his baby brother Luca following the service at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in Jacob’s honor.
