For Darien presidential primary voters on Tuesday, John Kasich is the most popular Republican candidate for president, with almost half the votes), with Donald Trump not far behind (41.5 percent), and Hillary Clinton is much more popular than Bernie Sanders (69 percent to 30 percent).
Kasich garnered 1,284 votes; Trump, 1,070. Ted Cruz, more popular elsewhere in the country, was a very distant third in Darien’s GOP primary votes, with 186 (7.2 percent).

A total of 2,576 Republican votes were counted in Darien and 1,203 votes from Democrats.
