Letter: Why I Nominated State Rep. Terrie Wood for Re-Election at the GOP Convention

To the editor:
On Monday, May 16, I attended the Republican State House Representative Convention and had the privilege of nominating Terrie Wood for a fifth term as the state representative for District 141, which includes Rowayton and most of Darien. Personally, I was relieved and grateful Terrie was willing to serve as our State Representative for another term, as I have consistently been impressed by her energy, her enthusiasm, her passion for the job, her bipartisan approach to solving problems, and most important, her sincere and never-ending efforts to represent all of her constituents in District 141, regardless of their political affiliation. Always the optimist, Terrie genuinely believes Connecticut’s current fiscal problems can be mitigated and turned around, and she’s willing to commit the time and energy to make this happen. She has the drive and the proven leadership experience we need right now to tackle the many issues we face in our community and in Hartford. We are indeed fortunate to have a candidate who has a sound understanding of the issues that need to be addressed, a clear vision of the work that needs to be accomplished on our behalf, and the ability to achieve meaningful results for all of us in District 141.

Randy Klein Gets Democratic Nomination to Challenge State Rep. Terrie Wood

Randy Klein of Darien accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination Tuesday to represent Connecticut’s 141st Assembly District, comprised of Darien, and the Rowayton neighborhood of Norwalk. “As a small business owner for almost forty years, I know it’s not enough to just talk about problems, you actually have to do something to solve them. As your state representative, I pledge to be a voice for progress for our district, and prioritize those issues which will make Connecticut an attractive place to start a family and grow a business,” Klein said Tuesday. Klein emphasized the importance of building a strong infrastructure that would allow economic growth on both the local, and statewide level in his acceptance speech on Tuesday. “Substantial investments are being made to repair our existing roads and rail, but we need to start identifying ways in which we can build a transportation infrastructure that major corporations and small businesses alike look for when they are deciding where to open their doors,” Klein said.

Letter: Renominated State Rep. Terrie Wood Says Balance Spending Priorities with Fiscal Constraint

To the editor:

I’m pleased to announce that I will be running again for state representative in the 141st District, Darien and Norwalk. Many thanks to Belinda Metzger and Ralph Depanfilis for nominating and seconding me and to the delegates for their support on Monday night. It has been my honor and truly a privilege to be your voice and vote in Hartford. Though Connecticut has many positive attributes — a vibrant and diverse population, good schools, a well-educated workforce, rich cultural opportunities, a historic coastline and scenic landscapes — we face deep fiscal challenges. Since the recession of 2008, we’ve dealt with a cycle of deficits, which have resulted from too much spending, shortfalls in revenue and historic underfunding of pension liabilities.

Letter: Greg Ehlers Thanks GOP Convention for State Senate Nomination

To the editor:

I want to thank the delegates of the Republican Party for nominating me as their candidate in the November election for state Senate. It is an honor to represent the people of Norwalk and Darien in the fight against one-party rule. One-party Democratic rule has been devastating to Connecticut’s economy, both businesses and households. Bob Duff is the symbol of one-party rule and must be replaced. Residents of Norwalk and Darien are only too aware of the pain inflicted by Duff’s reckless budgets coupled and crippling tax increases.
