Harry William Larson Jr. of Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away on Monday, May 23, after a long battle with cancer. He was 76.

Harry was born in Norwalk, on Nov. 15, 1939 to Harry and Bertha (Holtzberg) Larson from Darien. He graduated from Darien High School in 1958 and Bryant College in 1961.

After a few years of living in Massachusetts, Harry, his wife Linda and their four young children moved to a farm in North Wolfeboro. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens, his orchard, his prized blueberry fields and caring for his farm animals.

While a farmer at heart, Harry spent over 50 years selling golf course equipment and for the last 15 years he owned his own business, Larson Turf Equipment, where he served as president and CEO.

Harry was a member of the Vermont and Maine Golf Course Superintendents Associations. He was also a charter member of the New Hampshire Golf Course Superintendents Association, of which he was recently appointed an honorary member.

Harry was also a member of the New Hampshire Maple Syrup Association and in 1997 he won the Carlisle Trophy for the best maple syrup in the state of New Hampshire.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda (Vernet) Larson; his children: Sandy Libby and her husband Dan of Tuftonboro, N.H., John Larson of New York City, Jeff Larson and his wife Jen, Wolfeboro and Sarah Larson-Dennen and Chris Dennen of Durham, N.H.

Harry loved his six grandchildren: Daniel Libby and his wife, April; Kay and Meghan Libby, Hadley and Jack Larson and Reed Larson-Dennen; and he adored his great-grandchildren, Reese Marie and Jaxon Daniel Libby.

Calling hours will be at The Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2016.
