An early morning argument at a Raymond Street home became violent last Wednesday, April 20, and a woman was charged after scratching another person, Darien police said.

Police, who are prevented by law from giving out information on the alleged victim, described what happened with this account, which includes accusations not proven in court:

The victim and the woman, who was later charged, both said that after the victim came home at about 4:30 a.m., they got into an argument about personal matters, including finances.

The victim picked up a laptop computer from an upstairs bedroom and tried to take it downstairs. The woman objected to that and tried to grab it, jumping on the victim’s back while the victim went downstairs. The victim fell back and had scratches on an ear, cheek, back and right arm. The victim declined medical attention.

The woman called 911, and police came. She told police she grabbed the laptop in an attempt to get it away from the victim. Some of her statements to police appeared inconsistent.

Police charged her with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. She was issued a misdemeanor summons to appear later that day in state Superior Court in Stamford.
