An elderly man found underwater in a swimming pool on Meadowbrook Road late afternoon Monday was in critical condition this morning in Norwalk Hospital, Darien police said.
At about 4:30 p.m., several police officers were called to the home, where officers immediately entered the pool and removed the man from a depth of about 6 feet. He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse, but officers began cardiopulmonary resuscitation for several minutes until a Darien EMS-Post 53 ambulance arrived.
Police said they don’t know how long the man was submerged in the water. They are withholding his name and providing no further details of the incident.

On Aug. 15, 2016 at approximately 4:30pm several Darien Police officers responded to a Meadowbrook Rd. residence on a report of an unresponsive, elderly male at the bottom of a pool. Upon arrival officers immediately entered the pool and removed the victim from a depth of approximately six (6) feet. It is unknown how long the victim was submerged however he was not breathing and had no pulse.
Officers began CPR for the next several minutes until Darien EMS arrived on scene. The victim was then transported to Norwalk Hospital where as of this morning remains in critical condition. The name of the victim is being withheld at this point and no further details are being released.
