Elderly Man Found in Pool Monday in Critical Condition

An elderly man found underwater in a swimming pool on Meadowbrook Road late afternoon Monday was in critical condition this morning in Norwalk Hospital, Darien police said. At about 4:30 p.m., several police officers were called to the home, where officers immediately entered the pool and removed the man from a depth of about 6 feet. He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse, but officers began cardiopulmonary resuscitation for several minutes until a Darien EMS-Post 53 ambulance arrived. Police said they don’t know how long the man was submerged in the water. They are withholding his name and providing no further details of the incident.
