Dennis Reilly, a former resident of Darien, died Jan. 30, 2022, at his home in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 60.
Dennis was born Nov. 6, 1961 in New York City to Ann Marie and John Reilly.
As a family that moved across the United States, the Reillys landed in Darien 1973, and quickly settled in to the local routine of school and sports. Dennis was a member of the Darien High School Basketball Team, making lifelong friendships with his teammates.
After graduating from Boston College, Dennis worked within the Commodity Exchange and then moved to Dallas to assume a position with Kidder Peabody. Throughout his life Dennis was a follower of markets and financial trends.
He was a serious reader, favoring history and fiction. He was an avid golfer, and a devoted fan to his New York Giants and Yankees.
Moving back to the Connecticut area in 1990, Dennis met Brooke Schrieber in 1991, to whom he devoted the remainder of his life.
He and Brooke spent their years together between homes in Fairfield and Vero Beach. They enjoyed the autumnal fall colors of the Northeast, but the sunny days of Florida in the winter months.
Dennis is survived by Brooke; his father, John Reilly; sister, Peg Reilly; and brother Michael Reilly. Dennis was a doting uncle to his nieces Julianne and Emma, and his nephew, Evan Reilly.
In light of current health advisories, a memorial service will be planned in June 2022 in Darien. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Connecticut Chapter.
