David Booth Barrett David Booth Barrett, 78, went to be with his Lord in heaven on Friday, June 24, 2016 at home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

The funeral for David Barrett is to be held July 16.

He was born in New York City Oct. 12, 1937, the son of Isabel and Francis Howard Barrett. David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara, his children, David Barrett Jr., Sharon Broz, Laura Davidson, Tim Barrett and Anne Wingfield, his 10 grandchildren and many close friends.

He was raised in New York City and received his bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Fordham University School of Law.

After serving in the Army, David joined Citibank for a 20-year career, serving as vice president. He not only took pride in his career, but truly relished the friends he made during his time at Citibank, both at 55 Wall Street and internationally.

David had a passion for politics and government, serving as a member of the Darien Board of Education and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. In Darien, David served as commissioner of the Babe Ruth League and he was a member of The Tokeneke Club.

After raising their family in Darien, David and Barbara relocated to Hilton Head Island, S.C. As an active member of the Hilton Head community, David was proud of his contributions to the Hilton Head Island School System.

An avid reader and historian, David authored the recently published book Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Money. A memorial mass will be held July 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis by the Sea Roman Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
