Darien Woman Victimized After ‘Confirming’ Account Info to Caller Who Says He’s From Her Bank

A Shields Lane resident received a call from a man who said he was from her bank and asked her to confirm some account information.

That led to money being drained from her account with numerous purchases from Apple Stores in the Washington, D.C. area, police said.

The woman told police on Friday morning, May 25 that she had past problems in with her bank, and assumed the man was calling because of that. She saw the Apple Store purchases on her bank statement.
