All Darien public schools are delayed by about two hours today, Friday, Nov. 16, the school district announced. The delay follows the cancellation of after-school and evening activities in the district due to the weather.

The Early Learning Program has been cancelled for Friday. (Typically, according to the school district website, early ELP classes, normally starting at 8:30 a.m., are delayed and only late ones, that normally start at 9:30 a.m., are cancelled.)

When Darien public schools are closed or delayed, preschool programs in Darien not affiliated with the public schools typically will automatically do the same. Darien Nature Center also closes or delays opening when the towns public schools do so.

Here’s the announcement emailed at 5:19 a.m. (an automated telephone call also went out at 5:25 a.m.):
