Local historian and the author of “The Story of Darien, Connecticut,” Kenneth Reiss will be the keynote speaker when Darien’s Good Wife’s River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution holds their annual luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s, 2748 Post Road, Darien.

After his talk, Ken will lead luncheon attendees on a tour of the recently restored Noroton River Graveyard, which is located next to the Water’s Edge. Many of Darien’s founding families are interred in that cemetery.

Considered the pre-eminent authority on Darien history, Reiss has served on the Board of the Darien Historical Society for six years, and holds a degree in English from the University of Connecticut.

After a 30-year career editing and publishing business magazines, he joined his wife, Catherine Sylvia Reiss selling antique prints, maps and ephemera. Since retiring from that business, Reiss has occupied his time endeavoring to introduce local audiences to their predecessors.

Good Wife’s River Chapter NSDAR Regent, Katherine Love will hold a brief meeting prior to the luncheon when details of the Chapter’s participation in the Memorial Day Parade will be finalized, and the June Chapter Board meeting will be scheduled.

On the evening of May 5, DAR members, prospects, husbands and friends are invited to attend the CTDAR Wine and Hors D’oeuvres Party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bush Holley House in Cos Cob.
