When Darien’s Good Wife’s River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution sponsors its annual genealogy workshop on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, Connecticut DAR Lineage Research Chairman Ida Ransom will be the keynote speaker. Ms. Ransom will present a program titled: ‘Honoring Your Ancestors.”

Current and prospective DAR members will be on hand to help with and participate in the DAR application process. Membership in the DAR is open to any woman over the age of 18 who can trace her direct lineage to a Patriot whose last act was to fight for or give material aid to the cause of American Independence. Ida is a teacher by education and an administrator by profession.

CT Daughters of the American Revolution Party for DAR Candidate at National Congress

On the evening of May 5, Daughters of the American Revolution members, prospects, husbands and friends are invited to attend the CTDAR Wine and Hors D’oeuvres Party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bush Holley House in Cos Cob. This event will support Connecticut Honorary State Regent April Staley in her journey as a candidate for the office of vice president general at this year’s Continental Congress. Darien Historian Kenneth Reiss to Speak at Daughters of the American Revolution Annual Lunch

Local historian and the author of “The Story of Darien, Connecticut,” Kenneth Reiss will be the keynote speaker when Darien’s Good Wife’s River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution holds their annual luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s, 2748 Post Road, Darien. After his talk, Ken will lead luncheon attendees on a tour of the recently restored Noroton River Graveyard, which is located next to the Water’s Edge. Many of Darien’s founding families are interred in that cemetery. Considered the pre-eminent authority on Darien history, Reiss has served on the Board of the Darien Historical Society for six years, and holds a degree in English from the University of Connecticut. After a 30-year career editing and publishing business magazines, he joined his wife, Catherine Sylvia Reiss selling antique prints, maps and ephemera.
