Two rolls of copper were stolen from the storage container on the property of a Wakemore Street man sometime between Sept. 4 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 8, police were told.
The 41-year-old victim told police that each roll of copper was valued at $800. One was a 100-foot roll of one-inch copper, the other was a 60-foot roll of 2 inch copper. The police report did not indicate whether or not the rolls were sheets, wires or something else.
The storage container where both rolls were kept had been locked, and the lock was there on Sept. 4, but by 8 a.m., Sept. 8, it was gone.
Police went around the neighborhood, asking if any residents there saw anything unusual or suspicious, but none said they did.
There’s been construction work going on at the Kensett housing development just to the north of Wakemore Street, with some people involved in construction driving through, residents recently said at a Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. Officials from Kensett said they intended to tell contractors to avoid Wakemore Street, an arrangement Kensett previously had made with town officials and neighbors.
