Police who arrived Friday night at a home on Bishops Gate on a report of teenagers drinking at a party found that the caller was the one who hosted the event.
Darien police gave this account of the incident:
The caller, a teenage girl who lives at the house, told police when they arrived at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16 that she invited “a few friends” over for a small party.
When word got out that there was a party with no parents around, many other teenagers began showing up, until there were about 50 there, many of whom were drinking alcohol.
When she came to the conclusion that the party was getting out of hand, she called police. No charges were filed, and the police description of the incident, which was just released, doesn’t say if any teenagers were at the scene when they arrived, or what happened to them.
The matter was referred to the Youth Bureau of the Police Department for further investigation.
