A resident of a home on Old Kings Highway North found that her house had been entered, furniture moved around and a can containing coins taken, but jewelry and electronics were ignored.
The 38-year-old woman told police on Wednesday, Sept. 30 that she had returned to the house at 12:15 p.m (it was unclear when she had left) and noticed an interior garage door was open, although she was sure it had been closed when she left.
Furniture in the kitchen seemed to have been moved to create a barrier to the living room — perhaps for the large dog that was in the house when the woman was gone.
Papers and pictures were strewn about on the floor of the master bedroom and the door to the closet was open, although she usually left it closed. A pane of glass in one of the garage doors had been broken, perhaps as a way of gaining entry to the house.
Darien police said they were continuing to investigate the break-in.
