While leaf raking and snow shoveling can be good exercise, they are often tiring and sometimes hazardous chores for seniors.

—an announcement from At Home in Darien

At Home In Darien is pleased to offer fall leaf raking and winter snow shoveling services. This program matches seniors who are in need of assistance with At Home In Darien volunteers. Leaf raking, show shoveling, and other volunteer services can help Darien seniors remain in their homes and our community without worrying about simple things like household chores and maintenance.

“Although the weather is still nice, we’re already getting ready for the falling leaves and snow,” remarked Gina Blum, At Home In Darien Executive Director. “The demand for assistance is increasing, so we are also recruiting new volunteers. We ask that seniors plan ahead and contact us as soon as possible with their requests.”

If you are a senior (or know a senior) who is interested in taking advantage of leaf raking and snow shoveling services, please call At Home in Darien at 203.655.2227 to complete an application before October 18th. Please note our volunteers can only shovel public sidewalks. If you are interested in raking leaves or shoveling snow (or volunteering with any of At Home In Darien’s programs), please contact the office as well.
