Join us for a family music performance at Darien Library on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Community Room.
Surcari (a combination of two words: “Suramérica” and “Caribbean”) is a performance group originally from Chile and Puerto Rico under the musical direction of guitarist Lorena Garay.
The versatile members of Surcari will be performing a blend of traditional and original Latin American music on a wide variety of native instruments.
Learn interactive games and songs in Spanish, based on the musical styles and traditions of the Andes, the Spanish Caribbean, Central and South America, Spain and Mexico.
Participants will also play an extensive collection of authentic percussion instruments and dance as they explore different carnival traditions. Surcari is presented through Arts for Learning Connecticut. Grades K and up.
Please contact the Children’s Library at 203-669-5235, or visit this Web page on the Library’s website to view all the children’s programs. Children, teen, and adult programs are funded by contributions to the Annual Campaign for the Darien Library.
