No more snow is in the forecast, but you may have some more to shovel on your driveway or sidewalk as Darien and the region shake off the big storm Sunday morning.
Darien received 10.5 inches of snow by 7 p.m. Saturday, according to spotters for the weather service. But by 8:30 p.m., First Selectman Jayme Stevenson had tweeted a picture of a yardstick with snow almost up to 12.5 inches.
By 10:30 p.m., a total of 14.5 inches had fallen on Darien, according to the National Weather Service. As of 9:50 p.m., 16 inches had fallen on Norwalk, and the same amount even earlier (at 8:45 p.m.) on Greenwich, the weather service said.
Various fire departments, including Noroton Heights Fire Department, have asked residents to clear away snow as much as three feet from their fire hydrants.
Darien also has an ordinance requiring property owners to clear sidewalks in front of their property.
Connecticut State Police are reminding drivers that (when their vehicles are in motion) the fine for not removing almost all the snow from the windshield is $92 and the fine for not getting it off the top of the car is $120.
The National Weather Service’s spotter reports on snowfall from the storm has been adjusted, revising the Darien total: 16 inches of snow from this storm. Here’s their Fairfield County list of snow totals:
