A message from Darien High School Principal Ellen Dunn:

Due to the impending inclement weather, the Darien Public Schools has informed the College Board that the district will not be open on Jan. 23, 2016 for the administration of the SAT.  The make-up date provided by College Board is Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016. Please note that we are aware that this date falls within our February vacation.

an announcement posted on the Darien Public Schools website

___________

When rescheduling a national test date such as tomorrow, we are mandated to administer the test on the College Board specified make-up date, which is Saturday, February 20, 2016.

While we have the right to appeal, we were left with no feasible alternatives. In this case, the College Board has indicated that next Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 is not an option due to time constraints.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, many of our students will be taking the ACT, making that date also unacceptable.  Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 falls at the start of the February break and is also Presidents’ Day Weekend.  Finally, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, falls four days before the state-mandated administration of the SAT for all juniors, making this date also unacceptable.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.  If you have any questions about how this impacts your child, please feel free to contact their school counselor or Paul Ribeiro, Director of Guidance at DHS.
