Be prepared for Spring and Summer: Beach permits, boat-launch stickers and registration for April Vacation Camp and a safe boating class are all now available from the Darien Parks & Recreation Department.

Beach Permits, Boat Launch Stickers

The Parks and Rec Department is now selling 2019 park permits and boat launch stickers. These permit stickers allow entrance into Weed and Pear Tree Point Beaches and are available to Darien residents and taxpayers.

Stickers may be purchased online or at the Darien Town Hall, Room 110. 2018 permits are valid through Friday, May 31, 2019.

Beach security guards will be on duty starting Monday, April 15 at Weed Beach and Friday, May 24 at Pear Tree Point Beach.

A valid permit is required for entrance to the beaches starting on these dates. For more information, please call Parks and Recreation at 203-656-7325.

April Vacation Camp

Looking for something fun to do over April vacation break? The Parks & Recreation Department will be offering a Future Stars Basketball and Blue Wave Kickers Soccer camp from Monday, April 15 to Thursday, April 18.

This basketball and soccer camp is for children in grades K to 6 and will meet at the Town Hall gymnasium and fields.

Participants can choose from:

— the basketball & soccer camp from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $240,

— the basketball camp from 9 a.m. to 12 noon for $130, or

— the soccer camp from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for $130.

A daily rate is also available for $70.

Safe Boating Classes

Boat Safe Connecticut LLC comes to Darien to offer this eight hour course that will meet the requirements to obtain a Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and Personal Watercraft Operations.

The sport fishing boat sank in five minutes, but remained only partially submerged.

This class will meet on Tuesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Darien Town Hall. Participants must attend both dates and all hours to be considered for certification. The fee for this program is $90/Darien resident; $108/non-resident. Pre-registration is required.

The Darien Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for the residents of Darien. Registration for programs takes place online or at the Parks and Recreation office located in Town Hall, or through the mail. For more information please call the office at 203- 656-7325.
