While She Played Tennis, Woman’s $11,000 Watch Stolen From Her Bag at Entrance to Court at Weed Beach

A woman, evidently keeping her eyes on the ball, didn’t see someone remove her $11,000 Rolex watch from inside the bag she left at the entrance to the tennis court  at Weed Beech, she told police. Here’s how police described what she told them about the incident on Saturday, Aug. 10:

The woman went to Police Department Headquarters on Wednesday morning, Aug. 14, several days later. She’d been playing tennis from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m., and left the bag at the entrance to the court she was playing on.

Beach Permits, Boat Launch Stickers
The Parks and Rec Department is now selling 2019 park permits and boat launch stickers. These permit stickers allow entrance into Weed and Pear Tree Point Beaches and are available to Darien residents and taxpayers. Stickers may be purchased online or at the Darien Town Hall, Room 110. 2018 permits are valid through Friday, May 31, 2019.
