An announcement from theAlzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter:
_______________
Registration for the annual event, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, continues to break records and (as of Sept. 22) counts 200 teams and 887 walkers who have raised $163,000 to date.
Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to register for free online or via phone 860-828-2828 and help reclaim the future for millions. Event donations will be accepted through Dec. 15, 2015 and can also be made online.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will feature live music, children’s activities, a Zumba warm-up prior to the three-mile scenic walk and a meaningful tribute ceremony.
Greenwich resident and Emmy-Award-Winning TV News Reporter Kendra Farn will be the emcee for the event. Kendra is a Champion in the inaugural Fight to End Alzheimer’s Women’s Campaign that launched in July.
“I lost my mother to Alzheimer’s disease far too early,” Farn said. “She was diagnosed when she was just 60 years old. Whatever I can do to raise awareness and fight this disease for my daughters and generations to come, I will do.”
Walk to End Alzheimer’s Promise Garden
During the Walk opening activities, participants will be asked to choose a Promise Flower with a color representing their reason for walking. They will write a personal message on the flower and will raise it during the opening ceremony.
Four Fairfield County residents have been selected to represent each color and will share a few details surrounding their personal stories.
The group includes 12-year-old Max Rosenberg of Fairfield; Stamford resident and host of the inaugural Blondes vs. Brunettes Football Game in Fairfield County Cate Burzynski; Westport resident and founder of Task Home Care Services Deb Farrugio and Stamford resident Arthur Egol, a retired pediatric dentist who is currently battling Alzheimer’s. Following the ceremony, flowers will be placed in the Promise Garden.
