This week’s totally preventable theft from a Darien car: items of men’s clothing from a suitcase packed and left overnight in a BMW parked outside a Noroton Avenue home.

Another vehicle was also entered on Ridge Acres Road, but nothing was taken from it.

Both cars, of course, were unlocked. Two other cars also outside the home at 97 Ridge Acres Road were untouched. They were locked.

43 Noroton Ave. — Overnight, Aug. 20 to 21

Sometime overnight from Sunday to Monday, Aug. 20 to 21, an unlocked blue 2004 BMW 330 parked outside a home at 43 Noroton Ave. was entered and various items of clothing were taken from a suitcase that had been packed for a trip.

The owner found the clothing missing on Monday but was out of town, so he didn’t report the theft until Saturday, Aug. 26. Police are continuing to investigate the theft.

97 Ridge Acres Road — Overnight, Aug. 22 to 23

Sometime overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, Aug. 22 to 23, someone entered a tan 2016 Land Rover parked outside the home at 97 Ridge Acres Road.

In the morning, the owner discovered the SUV’s glove box open and its contents on the front passenger’s seat. Nothing was taken. Police asked around the neighborhood to see if anyone knew, heard or saw anything suspicious, but nothing came of the canvass.
