Whole Foods Market staff at first held a 36-year-old woman and contacted police after they accused her of stealing $58 in merchandise from the supermarket, but then management said they didn’t want to press charges, according to a police report. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

Although police didn’t charge the New Haven woman with anything relating to shoplifting, they did find that she was wanted on an arrest warrant charging her with failure to appear in court. So she was arrested on that charge. The incident happened last Thursday, April 27. Police were called to the store at 150 Ledge Road at 11:53 a.m.

The woman had failed to appear in court in connection with a charge that she had violated a New Haven city ordinance (Darien police didn’t have information on the what that ordinance said.)

The woman posted a $99 bond and was released.

Twice last week in otherwise unrelated incidents, Darien police stopped cars driving on town streets on suspicion of motor vehicle violations and found there were arrest warrants for the drivers. Darien police described each incident with these accounts (including accusations not proven in court):
Wednesday, April 12: Post Road & Brookside Road
At about 3:51 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, a police officer saw a green, 1993 Lexus ES without a front license plate traveling on the Post Road near Brookside Road. The officer stopped the car, and when speaking with the driver, smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. There were several marijuana blunts (hollowed out cigars with marijuana in them) in the center console. The officer also found that there was an arrest warrant issued for the driver, a 38-year-old Bridgeport man, on a charge made by Bridgeport police of violation of probation.
