Darien Schools Locked Down Briefly After Threats in Schools Elsewhere Judged ‘Non-Credible’

Darien police will be at the town’s schools for the rest of the day after “several non-credible threats” were made to schools elsewhere in Fairfield County, the Police Department announced in a tweet Friday morning. Darien Schools Superintendent Alan Addley said in an emailed message to parents at 10:03 a.m. that schools had been put on “Schools Secure” mode, meaning no entry or exit from the school buildings was being allowed. At 10:44 a.m., Addley announced that schools were returning to “regular operation,” but police would remain “throughout the day.” Although the Darien Police tweet mentioned “several” threats to “schools throughout Fairfield County,” Addley only mentioned threats made to schools in Stamford and Westport.
