Nine Darien High School Students Named Semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships

Nine Darien High School seniors have been named semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Corp.’s scholarship program. They’re among 16,000 named nationwide, and less than half of them will get the 7,600 National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring. The nine DHS seniors are Skyler Bennett, Nicholas Derby, Shriya Desai, Sean Huffert, Julia Pfrommer, Jackson Roberson, Sophia Talwalkar, Emma Williams and Kai Zhou. Today officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be off ered next spring.
