To the editor:

I had the pleasure of meeting with Quartermaster John Visi at the VFW Post 6933, formerly known as The Chapel, built in 1864 to assist Civil War veterans and their families. Post 6933 is situated next to the Noroton Heights Fire Department and the Little League Field. Why not have a post-game picnic supper here with a cold drink? The bar opens at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, and there are ample tables for post-game dinners or winning celebrations! The Chapel is the last surviving building of what was known as Fitch’s Home for Soldiers and Their Orphans.

Letter: Instead of More Tax Increases, CT Should Try More Spending Cuts

To the editor:

Democrats are all about taxes! Darien residents and Connecticut residents have had enough!  Lamont is “now considering” taxing groceries. So, if I spend $100 on groceries, I will have to pay another $6 plus to the State government for the right to eat; if I want my asthma meds — $349/month — that equals another $20 to the state for the privilege of being able to breathe! I won’t get started on the excess state property tax he proposes to add to our already existing municipal property taxes! But I would like to remind Lamont and his cronies in Hartford who look for taxation instead of reducing/cutting expenses, that not everyone in the “Gold Coast” is wealthy!

An award winning photographer, Nancy’s portfolio includes sea, land and tree scapes, staged and poetic photography; architecture of interest, such as barns, etc.; catalog and still photos.  

Her photographs have appeared in the Darien News; the Darien Times, The Resident, Country, Fine Gardening, and other newspapers and magazines. Nanci’s work has been on display at Darien Rowayton Bank, Darien Donut and Artists at Grove Street Plaza. She also has been a staff photographer for Darien Blue magazine covering feature families and local events, such as the Chili Challenge and Darien Old Timer’s Athletic Association.
