 Grace Farms Foundation offers visitors its Songs of the Season program, a series of free one-hour afternoon concerts featuring improvisational arrangements of seasonal music performed by local musicians. — an announcement from Grace Farms
Songs of the Season will take place on Dec. 19, 22, 26 and 28 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary, which overlooks Grace Farms’ 80-acre preserve at 365 Lukes Wood Road in New Canaan.

Protecting Wildlife | New Strategies to Combat Wildlife Trafficking

Come to the Sanctuary at Grace Farms in New Canaan from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21 to learn how a unique collaboration between our Nature and Justice Initiatives is providing expert training to law enforcement task forces working to dismantle the transnational organized crime syndicates responsible for wildlife trafficking. Hear from Robert Mande, chairman of the National Anti-Poaching Task Force  and assistant director of Anti-Poaching Wildlife Division in Tanzania and Sean O’Regan, director of Freeland Africa, alongside Grace Farms Foundation’s Nature Initiative director, Mark Fowler, and Justice Initiative advisor Rod Khattabi. Portraying Faith in the News Media: An Inside View from New York Times, Washington Post Journalists

Join Grace Farms Foundation for an inspired conversation about how religion is portrayed in the media today. In a discussion moderated by Community Initiative Director & Faith Initiative Program Facilitator Lisa Lynne Kirkpatrick, journalists Wajahat Ali (New York Times and CNN contributor) and Michelle Boorstein (The Washington Post) will share insights from writing and speaking about faith in American life and discuss how each of us can contribute to civil discourse and expand our capacity for greater compassion in our pluralistic society. Earth Day | Celebrating Biodiversity at Grace Farms

Join Grace Farms Foundation in celebrating the biodiversity of nature this Earth Day. Explore Grace Farms’ 80-acre preserve and enjoy programs and activities highlighting the importance of preserving woodlands and wildlife. 10 am – 12 pm

Native Plants, an interactive station where families can learn more about how our area’s local plant species contribute to biodiversity

Managing Meadows, a conversation with Penn Marchael, Project Manager at Larry Weaner Associates, about how to grow and nurture the native meadows where bees, butterflies, and birds thrive

Open Arts Studio for Families, a facilitated workshop where children and families can create art inspired by the diversity of tiny insects and wild plants that live in Grace Farms’ meadows.

The Biodiversity of Birds of Prey, a demonstration with Master Falconer Brian Bradley

Nature Walk | Native Birds, a guided birdwatching walk with Master Birder Frank Mantlik where visitors will discover the diverse species that live on Grace Farms’ 80-acre preserve (on-site registration required)

 

2 – 3 pm

Nature Walk | Preserving Biodiversity, a guided walk with Aaron Lefland, Executive Director of the New Canaan Land Trust, through Grace Farms’ diverse ecosystems, including open meadows, woods, wetlands, and ponds (on-site registration required)

Coexisting with Native Wildlife, a demonstration on the beauty and diversity of our area’s wildlife with local wildlife experts

The Battle against Modern Slavery: Panel Discussion at Grace Farms

In observance of Anti-Human Trafficking month, Grace Farms Foundation and U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy will host an important discussion about modern day slavery, featuring a panel of experts dedicated to fighting this crime. The panel, moderated by Grace Farms Foundation Justice Initiative Director Krishna Patel, will include Murphy; Vincent Nappo, a partner at Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala, PLLC; and activist Nacole S., a passionate advocate for child sexual exploitation survivors and their families. Join us to learn more about the prevalence of human trafficking and what we can do to combat it. Following the discussion, join us for a screening of I Am Jane Doe, a film chronicling the epic battle that several American mothers are waging on behalf of their middle-school daughters, victims of sex-trafficking on Backpage.com.
