Darien Schools Workshop: Word Study in Grades 1-5

In this workshop for parents of children in Grades 1 to 5, teachers will describe the principles behind our word study curriculum in those grades. Parents will have an opportunity to be actively engaged in word study practice in order to gain an understanding of the student work. Parents will also leave with a collection of strategies to support their child at home.

A Day for Families: Supporting a Child’s Literacy Development Takes ALL of Us, Working Together

Participation organized by Darien Public Schools:

This one day conference is designed to support families, in working with children at home, to help them thrive as readers and writers. Whether you are the parent of a kindergartner or fifth grader, whether you have questions about how best to help your fourth grader with his writing homework, how to locate books your kindergartner will read, how children move from pretend reading to actually reading, how to support spelling and grammar, or how to prepare for high stakes assessments, there is something for everyone. You will also leave with suggestions for resources- for great books, websites, and people to reach out to with your questions. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please contact cgillette@darienps.org. Limited number of tickets available.
