Darien Dash, which had been scheduled for this Saturday, March 9, has been cancelled by the Darien Youth Commission due to an unexpected circumstance for an organizer (unrelated to the event). Refunds will be made for any registration payments. Original article, Feb 25:

Registration is open for the Darien Dash, a town-wide scavenger hunt that takes place Saturday, March 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. Teams registered for the event will compete by answering town-based riddles and by visiting participating stores based on clues. The third annual Darien Dash, organized by the Darien Youth Commission, begins at the Town Hall gym and ends at The Depot Youth Center on Heights Road, where points will be tallied and prizes given to winners. First, second and third place prizes will go to the teams with the most points.

So who knows Darien Best??? As winners of the Darien Youth Commission’s second Annual Darien Dash, apparently Jim O’Brien, Kiera O’Brien, Whitney Scallon, Sophia Condon & Lindsey Turner do!  

The second annual community-wide scavenger hunt included many elements. Some of the expected components were: puzzle solving; geographical planning & mapping; and photography. Some of the unexpected elements included good, clean competition; intergenerational cooperation; a whole lot of smiles, reflection & fun!

The Darien Youth Commission is announcing its second annual community-wide scavenger hunt, the Darien Dash, taking place on March 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Teams partaking in the scavenger hunt will compete to score the most points by answering town-based riddles and visiting participating merchants based on clues. The Darien Dash begins at the Town Hall gym and ends at The Depot Youth Center on Heights Road, where points will be tallied and prizes given to winners. ___________

Participation in the Darien Dash is open to all ages, but requires a vehicle and driver to travel about town, based on answers to riddles. Participants will be limited to the first 25 vehicles to register. Team members may not exceed the number of seatbelts in vehicles and signed waivers are required for participants under the age of 18.

The Darien Youth Commission has announced the winners of the Darien Dash, the commission’s first town-wide scavenger hunt: Philip, Natalie, Miranda and Kathryn Roche. The Darien Dash took place on March 11 with 13 teams competing for top prizes. It concluded at The Depot Youth Center, where points were tallied and prizes awarded. The Darien Youth Commission, comprised of both adults and high school students, develops enrichment programs and activities for youth. A new scavenger hunt in Darien, called the “Darien Dash” and organized by the Darien Youth Commission, will take place on Saturday, March 11, and will accept just 20 teams, each with a car. Registration, which starts Feb. 27, will be first-come, first-served — so (depending on how popular this is) that may be the pre-dash “dash.” You might gather certain information before registration opens, to get your form completed faster.
