In an effort to make shopping a little bit easier, Mountainside treatment center polled more than 100 people in all stages of recovery and asked them about the most meaningful gift they received. — an announcement from Mountainside treatment center, slightly edited

The holidays are a perfect time to show support for a loved one on their journey to sobriety.  But scrambling for the perfect last-minute gift doesn’t have to be a chore. Below are some of the gifts that our respondents enjoyed getting, but whether or not your intended recipient is in recovery, you might find a good gift idea here:

Gifts of Positive Affirmation:

Often, the most memorable gifts contain a powerful message of encouragement. The people in recovery we surveyed were especially fond of intention bracelets, which are not only fashionable but can also help them stay focused on their personal goals.

Let the Depot Elves Help You Wrap Christmas Presents

Have time to shop but no time to wrap? The Darien Depot Youth Center’s elves are back to wrap presents for residents just before the holidays. Drop off unwrapped and labeled presents at the Depot and we will handle the wrapping. A minimum $20 charge is required, but keep in mind that it helps the Depot run programs.

The “Holiday Wrap-Up” runs from 10 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Dec. 21 to 23 at the Depot at 25 Heights Road (next to Noroton Heights Train Station).

Darien will have a holiday stroll on Wednesday with the theme of “Darien Does Holidays!” Enjoy the many unique boutiques and shops in Darien on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Clear a spot in your living room: “Trees are here!” Noroton Heights Fire Department announced on Facebook Wednesday night. “Members and friends helped unload them and get everything set up for opening day on Saturday Nov. 30 at 10 a.m.!” Here’s the rest of the announcement of the volunteer fire department’s annual tree sales:

‘We’re Back Party’ for Opening of Greenwich Reindeer Festival and Santa’s Village

Santa and his LIVE reindeer — Dasher, Dancer and Prancer — are coming back for the 11th Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Village and return to “the North Pole on North Street,” Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses, 437 North St., Greenwich, from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24, 2019. The cherished town tradition continues for the eleventh consecutive year at the expansive nursery where visitors can have their photo taken with Santa, meet the reindeer and also enjoy the new Santa’s Village, train and carousel rides at the North Pole on North Street, all just minutes from downtown Greenwich. Parking is free.

Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend

For the eleventh consecutive year, the holiday shopping and dining season will come to life at the 11th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend, Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

The annual event to shop, dine and be merry will expand this year to include Greenwich, Byram, Glenville, Cos Cob and Riverside, where there will be live music entertainment tents sponsored by Greenwich Hospital, among others. The Holiday Stroll will also feature a Live Nativity, horse drawn carriage rides, professional ice sculpture demos, a food truck village on Greenwich Avenue, letter-writing to Santa and more than 140 participating retailers and restaurants offering promotions, refreshments and holiday cheer. Everyone is welcome at the 11th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Kick-Off Party to benefit Kids in Crisis, hosted by Vineyard Vines, Thursday, December 5, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 145 Greenwich Ave.
