Darien Police Marine Unit Rescues Two from Partly Submerged Boat

Darien Police Marine Unit 1 rescued people, none reported hurt, from a boat that hit rocks off of Greens Ledge and Sheffield Island at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday. CBS Connecticut reported late Saturday that two males were rescued from the boat, neither of them hurt. The boat sank within five minutes, but remained only partially submerged and a salvage operation was conducted by Tow Boat US. Darien Police Marine Unit 1 was the first unit on the scene; police marine units from Norwalk, Westport and Stamford all responded to the call for help. Norwalk Fire Department also had a boat on the scene, according to Norwalk police.
